I got this image off of photo.net, it's part of Philip Greenspun's stuff. It's notated as taken in Venice, while waiting for the ferry that takes people to the airport. I'm sure you can understand how it's a very powerful image to me. I thought I'd share.

"FBI and Justice Department investigators are increasingly frustrated by the silence of jailed suspected associates of Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network, and some are beginning to that say that traditional civil liberties may have to be cast aside if they are to extract information about the Sept. 11 attacks and terrorist plans."

At least I made it to work on time.

I managed to clear out the saxon helpline email box at 5:50 tonight. I didn't have one spare moment of time to play or study or anything for the whole 6 hours I was there. It was quite sucky, but quite invigorating at the same time.

What bothers me is the emails in all caps ("WHAT NUMBER IS HALFWAY BETWEEN 123 AND 321?" was an exact question we got, fear that!) and the people with no spelling or grammar abilities emailing in... I mean, yeah, I know a lot of smart people who can't spell, but... I dunno. It just bugs me. That, and the helpline gets a lot of spammail. Oh well, it means less math to do. ;)

I'm kind of bored, here at the lab... Things I should be doing but am not, as is the story of my life... should I just give up on that history of science paper? It doesn't seem to be happening, at all.

I'm really surprised by the amount that I slept yesterday. On Saturday night I went to bed at 1:30, and woke up at 12:30. I went back to sleep at 2:30 and slept until 6:30. Then I went back to bed again at 3:30am and woke up at 11:30. That's 23 hours in two nights. It really messed up my schedule of things to get done (like the paper). And going to classes.

I feel so helpless sometimes.

The Destroyer is awake. I wish the snack machines had healthier items in them.
