I would create a community LJ restricted to all of my friends that they could post in while I was gone to specifically leave messages for me to review when I returned. This would ensure I didn't have to go through 3 months of individual journal entries to weed out the important events when I returned. Actually, as I think about this, perhaps some of you wouldn't want others to read what you say. So perhaps I would just use my super-private e-mafia email account for such things.
I would write letters sporadically while inside to someone trustworthy, with LJ entries they could type out and upload for me. So you all could chart my descent into insanity.
I would have someone check my email accounts and delete the obvious spam mail (I wouldn't want 3000 emails waiting when I got out).
I would have someone (Jim?) set up to pay my bills. I'd freeze such things as my gym account, but I'd probably still have monthly payments on my credit cards.

udalrich's trombone. I wonder if I can bring mp3 CDs, or just regular audio? And lots of paper, envelopes, and stamps. Oh, and I have an audio voice recorder... I'd take a bunch of tapes in and tape myself rambling on about topics.
Things to check out: would people be able to send me messages through the researchers? I guess they could worry about "secret codes" that would tip me off as to what day it is... :P
