I'm soooo tired
13 December 2003 01:00What a day!
First off, yesterday. I slept until
azadam called and woke me up at 1. Then I met him downtown in the pouring rain. We had some clam chowder and walked around downtown Boston, soaking our shoes and socks and having a grand old time. Boy, was it cold and wet. We met up with
karlean7 and did a bit more walking around town before heading back to my place to watch Secretary. Afterwards we walked to Applebee's for dinner and inappropriately loud conversation (considering we were talking about, oh, snuff porn and other hideous topics....) Then it was back home and the end of a nice day.
Today I once again went into town with
azadam, although this time the sun was out. It was still ass cold, but at least it wasn't raining. We had breakfast at 4pm at Wendy's, then began walking around downtown. At first we were on a hunt to find shoes that matched my black fuzzy cat hat (I had seen a girl in the subway with wonderful shoes that matched, so I know they exist). We went into a lot of stores, but no luck. Although I learned that DSW shoe warehouse will someday bankrupt me.
Side note: there were these awesome black loafers with 3-4" platforms that looked great on me. I wish I had disposable income.
We eventually gave up on the shopping and started being tourists. We visited the cemetary where Ben Franklin, Paul Revere, and others are buried. Then we walked the length of Boston Common and all the way down Newbury Street. This, for the unfamiliar, is a very long walk. And we didn't stop! We then walked to Fenway Park and Landsdowne Street, which was very dead for the supposed party area of Boston. We continued on foot back to Mass. Ave. and attempted to catch the #1 bus to Cambridge. We waited and waited and eventually gave up and continued walking.
This involved walking over the Charles River. If it's cold on dry land, it's farking freezing over water. We were sooooo cold. But, it was beautiful. It was a clear night and the lights of the city were twinkling in the distance. It would've been incredibly romantic if it wasn't so cold (well, and if there were romance).
We then walked the entire way up Mass. Ave. to Harvard Square. We browsed some shops and ended up having thai food for dinner at about 10pm. It was good thai food, too. We sat and talked about old high school acquaintances until they kicked us out. Then we took the subways back to our respective haunts.
All in all, we did miles of walking. I wish I had some way to measure it. I might get out a piece of string and my map and do some calculations. I know my legs are very sore and that we were walking for the better part of 8 hours. Go us!
