Moulin Rouge is a good movie. It is lots of fun. I'd talk about the ending, but not everyone has seen it. Poor not everyone.

I love Jason!

Margaret likes me. For my bed tonight I have (in ascending order from the floor): a sleeping bag, a feather bed, satin sheets, a handmade quilt, and a fleece blanket. I will be warm if nothing else!

We also had yummy healthy food for dinner. Hooray!

Soon I will be home, and I will put together a fancy new computer and have fun with it. Janke, can you drop my laptop off at my house sometime Sunday afternoon? I can lend it back to you on Monday, or even Sunday night if you're desperate.

Still no clue on the tax refund situation. *crosses fingers and hopes for a happy letter*

What did you not like about it?

i didn't think that there was much of a plot. i thought it tried too hard to be art for the purpose of dazzling and (over)stimulation, and that the feeling it was trying to convey was cheapened by its gaudiness. it gave me a jaded, slightly nauseous feeling of ennui.

Well, two things probably helped me with that: first that I heard the movie described as Liberace let loose in a costume shop in New Orleans, and secondly that Margaret made sure Brendan and I knew what we were in for before we started the movie: singing and dancing and gaudiness. Since I was expecting it, it didn't jar me, and I took the movie not as a "we're trying to get a plot across" but as a "we want to have fun with singing and dancing and gaudiness, but it's probably necessary to put a plot here too", I guess. Heh.

From what I understand, the $300 added to your refund is probably because of the Bush credit, which you may not have gotten last year. If you didn't, they tacked it onto the refunds from this year. The exact $300 figure added in is what really makes me think of that.

Good luck with your new computer...if you do indeed desire any extra help in the building of the machine, let me know (366-8286). I have birthed more machines in my time than I can readily recall.

Also, add me to the list of people who didn't like Moulin Rouge.

Well, I didn't get the Bush tax credit last year because I was a dependent then, but I am not a dependent this year. I will look up this information now, thanks for the tip.

Moulin Rouge is a lovely movie, especially if you've grown up around opera. Opera fans learn not to expect much plot: the beauty is in the quality of presentation, which Moulin Rouge, I think, totally nails.

Oh, well, I didn't know that. I assumed they would've called by now. Oh well... =P

I'll call them tomorrow and figure out what's up.
