Hello, we're alive!! Brendan, Kate, and I are at Kate's parents house in Anacortes, Washington. If we left here and went straight west, first we'd have to get a boat, and we'd land in Canada very close to Victoria, British Columbia. Her parents' house has a view of the ocean. It's beautiful.

We left Norman at about 1am on Friday morning. We drove all night and day until we arrived at Brendan's aunt and uncle's house in Powell, Wyoming. We stayed there, watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, were fed home-cooked mac and cheese and apple pie, given a whole lot of goods in case we run into bad weather or bad people (an extra flashlight, a spotlight, food, a knife, and a baseball bat!!), and left. We saw that there was snow coming into Idaho/Montana where we needed to drive by the morning, and we thought we could beat it.

Well, we were wrong. ;) Brendan was driving and I was asleep in the back seat when we hit the snow. I think I only retained my sanity because I wasn't conscious for some of it, and what I was awake for, I didn't have my glasses on so that I couldn't see what it looked like outside. Also, Brendan and Kate were very good about not making scared noises after I asked them not to. I'm glad I did, because the one time Brendan did go "aaahh" it was because we were going sideways along the highway.

But we survived, and Brendan learned how to drive in snow. There actually was a time, a little west of Spokane, where a car that was a bit ahead of us and in the lane just to the right fishtailed out and spun off the highway facing the other way. If they had slid to the left instead, we would've been hit. That would not have been fun.

This is why I treat my car nicely.

We drove through Seattle and got to see the Space Needle. It almost seemed like we wouldn't see it, because Seattle was very stereotypical today: cloudy, rainy, cold - the rain would randomly switch to snow and vice-versa. But the needle was still visible from the highway. Maybe tomorrow we will actually go into town and be tourists.

I got to take a shower today. I'm very pleased with that.

After I finally broke down and sniffled about missing Jason (not hard when there's a kissy couple in a car with you for hours and hours), Brendan snuggled me in the backseat while Kate drove. I was happy about that. :) But I didn't get my head scratched!

Well, I guess that's all for now. In a few days we'll leave for Sacramento, so I guess I should get ahold of Troy...

i'm glad that you guys are all okay. i got your phone message today, and i really couldn't understand the second half, but i understood the beginning part and i will put money in your bank account if you tell me which one and what account number and such.

you should go to the space needle for me! i think all cities should have a tall spiky spiny building for tourists.

and i've been thinking about your future house. i have some cool ideas. :)

Yes, that is what the main part of the message was. :) I will email you with more information about it (like I'm putting my bank account number here!)

I'm sure we will go see the space needle, and maybe go up to the top of it.

I am very interested to hear about my future house. I realized that with the hole-to-the-laundry-room idea, I could just have the master bedroom be right ABOVE the laundry room, and have a floor hole or a laundry chute. Mmm...
