I am at Margaret's! Happy day. It is very nice here. I have spent a lot of the day with my eyes closed and my back on the couch, visiting the Nap Monster. He is nice to visit when you have time. :)
Brendan and I left Cory's at about 2am, and he drove while I slept in the backseat. I woke up at 7:30, and we were almost in L.A. Apparently that's very quick, and well, he was driving 95. We didn't get caught in too much traffic, and got here around 8:30 and slept. We woke up at 11:30 to have lunch with Margaret, and that's when the excitement happened!
Margaret gave me directions on how to take the bus to her work. Catch bus 14 on the corner near here, give them $.50 each, take it to the Wilshire exit, and get off. Check www.bigbluebus.com for the schedule, to know when to catch the first bus.
Well, that's all good. It was something like 12:08 and the bus came at 12:18, and the corner was very close. Brendan went inside and I stayed here for a few minutes and left at 12:15. We walked to the corner and there was a bus there! so we got on. However, the driver wanted us to pay $1.35 each. I was confused, but gave him the money. I only had dollar bills and he didn't give change, so it was $3. We sat down, and just as the bus drove off, it hit me - did we even check the number of the bus? I asked Brendan and he said he hadn't, so I looked and we were on bus 10. Ooops.
So we got off - very short trip for $3. We ran all the two blocks back to the other stop, and saw that there was a bus stop with a "Big Blue Bus" sign on the OTHER corner. You know, where the big blue bus was just leaving. =P
So Brendan and I decided to start walking along the bus route, since it didn't come back for another 30 minutes. We called Margaret to tell her, and found out that we were actually still on the wrong side of the street, and would've caught the bus in the opposite direction that we wanted to go. Argh!!
So finally we were walking in the right direction. We walked for 20 minutes, passed a few bus stops, and stopped to sit at one where we thought the bus would come soon. It did, and I opened my bag, and we only had a $5. No change given, so *sigh* we didn't get on the bus.
We kept walking, and stopped in a gas station to get some water and change for the $5. Finally, after probably 1.5 to 2 miles, we caught up to the next bus (this is an hour, folks) and took it. Hooray!
So that was the exciting adventure. After that we got to the right stop, met up with Margaret, and went to eat at a Chinese place. It was called "Soy Bean Chinese", but really less than 10% of the menu was vegetarian. We thought that was silly. We did eat some very yummy stuff though. Then we caught the correct bus back home (on the first try!) and Brendan played on the computer while I napped more.
Now Margaret is home, and cooking dinner (which we will definitely not be eating yet). And Brendan is taking the couch. I am talking to Jason (YAY!) and posting this. :)
Sometime soon I should call Dave (my mud friend) or even, gasp, log onto the mud and see what's up.
We plan on leaving tomorrow night. That way we will probably be able to stop by Elk City at some reasonable time on Sunday morning or afternoon. We will be dirty hippies again by that time (we both showered yesterday).
Ravi is a nice boy. And Lydia is a princess.
