road trip #3!
21 March 2002 11:55Two things I want to mention first:
I need to remember this URL: https://ecare.cingular.com/login_1.jsp. That way I can check how many minutes on my phone I've used so far this month.
Second: if I ever, ever do anything that annoys or upsets you, say something about it. It's frustrating to know that I was being bothersome to someone I like and didn't know, because I can't read minds (or silences). If I think your request is unreasonable, I'll say so, and continue with my actions. But most of the time I'll go, "Oh, I didn't know this upset you," and stop.
Now that that's over with... :)
After a nice long nap (for me) at Kris's, we left Seattle. It turns out Kate wanted to accompany us for a little longer, so we drove up to Anacortes to get her a few more things and then headed down I-5 to Sacramento. I drove from 1:00am until about 7:30 - all the way through southern Washington and a little past Portland. It basically rained the whole freakin' time. It kept me awake and alert, at least. The ride was pretty uneventful, and we got to Sacramento at about 4pm on Tuesday. Brendan and Kate immediately slept while I hung out with my friends. :)
We spent that night watching movies: Following, which was by the same guy who did Memento and was possibly even cooler; Psycho Beach Party, which is one of the greatest movies ever in my opinion; and Six-String Samurai, which also falls into that category, and Kate hadn't ever seen. It was a good night.
Yesterday we went to Fry's Electronics ("geek mecca") for Troy to get his car stereo installed, but it turned out there was some problem and it couldn't happen. We shopped anyway. I found the monitor I wanted for my computer at a price that was comparable to the online price, and wouldn't charge me shipping. So I called my dad and he lent me the money to buy it. Now there's even LESS space in the car, but I'm happy. Monitor!!
Then Brendan and Kate went to his grandparents' to be good kids, and I hung out with Scot, Jed, and Troy downtown for a while. We got a new charger for my cell phone, since the one I had broke sometime during this trip and I have been killing my phone multiple times. We stopped by the record store where my ex worked a few months ago, supposing that he probably might still hang around (picture the two 'helpers' in the movie High Fidelity), but found out that if he and his friend Aaron did return to the store, they'd probably be arrested for all the money they embezzled out of the place. Turns out that they stole a lot from their last employer, too. Ahh, the paths people take...
I bought something else in downtown Sacramento, too, but I'm not going to tell anyone what it is yet. You'll have to see for yourself. Muahaha! Brendan and Kate like it a lot though. I'll say this: it's something that alters my appearance.
We met up with Brendan and Kate for some delicious thai food, and then returned to Troy's. After a few car trips and phone calls, it finally happened: the whole original Department of Surrealism was together again at the same time in the same place. Me, Troy, Jed, Scot, Mike, Jason. We got a few pictures taken. I love them all.
Jason is Jason Graham, from California, not Jason Foley from Boston. I guess that might be obvious, but just in case...
We hung out, watched some hentai (snicker), and then Scot had to leave (it was about 12:30) and Troy had to go to bed. It was established that Jason was willing to buy me a lap dance, and seeing how it's not Oklahoma here, there was ample opportunity to fulfill that. Woohoo! The four of us remaining (Jed, Mike, Jason, and I) headed off first to a topless place called the "body shop". Since it wasn't a full-nudity place, it served alcohol (reasonable, I suppose). So I got a 'red-headed slut', a drink I'd never tried, and it was pretty good. Turns out we arrived about 10 minutes before they closed though, so fairly soon we had to leave, without a lap dance. :( So, instead, we headed to a full-nudity place (since we had already had our liquor!) that closed later. It was called "Risky Business". It was... basically everything I expected. I took it all with an air of amusement. Jason had me pick out a girl, so I looked for one that didn't look too deformed and fake. And she was wearing a cool blue dress. *grin* I got taken to the edge of the room where there are special couches, and she sat and talked to me a bit before doin' her thang. She was actually really nice, and assured me that she didn't bite (that was just waiting for a retort, but I didn't say anything). Then I got a lap dance. It was... pretty cool indeed. They know how to do what they do, I guess. They don't get completely naked for those, btw, it's only topless. So, yeah. I was amused and impressed and happy about it. ;)
Then I got to sit at the tip table - the table right up next to the stage where the dancers will go around and do special stuff for you if you put money down. I had $3, but I'm a girl, so that was enough. ;) That was amusing, too. I wonder if it offends the dancers that I giggled when they shoved their breasts in my face.
I still can't figure out what it was on one of them that was pierced, but that's all I'll say about that.
We returned back and fell asleep, and now here I am. Troy's already left for work, so I won't see him again until... next time, whenever that is. I'm supposed to call Mike and hopefully get lunch with him before we leave. Jed and Jason are still here, assumedly we'll go up to the Big House to look around, and then it'll be time to leave, or at least for there to not really be anything else I feel I have to do here. *sigh*
From here, it's to the bay area to hang around and visit cory in the evening, and then driving overnight to LA to see Margaret and Ravi. Yay!
