night with mom
2 February 2002 00:41Well, I had a really good time at tonight's Saxon banquet. There was good food, I hung out with Chris and Elise, Jack and Kelly, and my mom. There was okay music (probably would've sucked if not for just the plain fact that they had a marimba!). I introduced my mom around to a lot of people, and really enjoyed the time there. Whee!
Then my mom and I went over to Brendan's place. Chris was leaving with Lilly as we showed up, but Brendan, Thom, and I were able to make it through a few songs to show off to my mom what we do (and my new bass!). Actually, I have two bass blisters now!! I hadn't actually gotten blisters before, but I did tonight. One on my right thumb, and one on my right index finger. It feels like there's one on my left index finger, too, but it's not visible like the others.
Now I'm home, and out of dressy clothes and into pajamas and a sweatshirt. The cats are hungry... I'm not. I ate a lot today, courtesy Saxon. ;) I will be going to bed soon.
I am only turning my computer on when I am actually here and at it these days. I figure that will work to keep it from overheating. It only has problems if it stays on for too long, so I'll just use it in short increments until I can get it replaced.
Pixel is being demanding now... bye!

on 2 Feb 2002 20:58 (UTC)1. Clean the finger, sterilize a needle and puncture the blister as close to the edge as you can.
2. Squeeze all the fluid out that little hole in the edge (yes, this hurts a lot, but when you're done, you can't even see the blister any more, ideally.)
3. Clean it again, and apply NewSkin.
4. Lots of ice, but don't get your finger wet.
This is the only way that I survived learning the left-hand pizz. passage in Zigeunerweisen. I had a blister on each of my four left-hand fingers every night for a week before my callouses got strong enough to deal with it.
