Review of "Moon"

This is the first really science fiction movie I have seen in a while. It's not an action film. There are no big explosions. There are no midichlorians. It's set slightly in the future on a mining base on the Moon and explores what happens to the lone worker completing his three-year stint there with only an AI as really close company.
The movie is beautifully written. The devil is in the details, and this movie is satanic. ;) The pacing is fantastic; the movie is almost Gandalf in its ability to move exactly as fast as it needs to, no faster. It gives you time to sop up the details it's dribbling down to you. The best part? The movie is as smart as you are. Or at least was as smart as I was. I thought about fifteen minutes in that I had now figured out the M.NightShyamalan-type ending and was spending the next 1:45 waiting for it. But no, the movie said, "Well duh, that's what's going on. But after we've established that, what's next?"
As for the acting, I have one thing to say. This was an excellent movie featuring Kevin Spacey, and Kevin Spacey was not the one whose acting made it excellent.
Several of the people I went with claim that it's a movie they don't feel the need to see again until five years down the road when the details are no longer burned into memory. Personally, it's an instant DVD-collection add and quite possibly going up on the list of movies that I tell people they should see if they haven't.

shogunhb and shadowravyn and ddrpolaris and whomever else came with us to see that movie: it was NOT like Sunshine. The trailer for Moon does a pretty good job of setting up the theme and mood for the entire movie, and it stays true to that throughout.
