cat hat antics and optimism

As we are currently under a winter wonderland here in Boston, today I wore my cat-eared hat. (For some reason, I feel odd wearing it if there's no snow. I wonder when I got into that habit?) While walking to the subway for my morning commute, a passer-by (male, dressed casually nice, 20s-30s) waved and got my attention just to say, "Meow how are you meow?" with childish joy in his voice. Made me smile.

Today I got to sleep in, and when I woke the sun was shining and both cats were in bed with me. Bad days happen, and today might even turn into one, but right now I'm sitting pretty on optimism.

I have a hat designed to make me look lke Red Fraggle -- a red cap with two giant yellow-and-red pompoms coming out of the sides like pigtails. One notable time that I wore it during a snowstorm, I got pelted with a volley of snowballs by a bunch of drunk guys driving by in a pickup truck whose trunk was full of snow. Maybe I should switch to a cat hat.
