If you haven't read Harry Potter IV: Goblet of Fire, you don't want to read the comments for this post. If you have, I'm commenting to myself to discuss my thoughts.

I feel good, having read two books in two days. I don't get to read enough. And I got laundry done yesterday, and got it all put up today, and got a lot done. Even if none of it was E&M.

I think people should keep lists of books that everyone needs to read. That way, I have a resource for when I want to read a new book. I need to get an account at the library. If nothing else, I'm going to find one of those "great book" lists. Maybe I'll even read the bible, to get it all under my belt.

Goldbug helped me clip the cats' nails today. That was sorely needed.

I'm going to comment now, and then sleep - and hopefully not dream of Lord Voldermort!

I agree with all the rumors I heard from different people about the ending of GoF. It was not as much of a "wrap up" as the previous books, when Harry&co. defeated Voldermort again and everything was settled and closed until the next year. It was a call to arms - he's out, loose, on the rise, and we have to do something.
I think it's interesting how the subject matter has seemed to increase with the level of the books. The first innocent, as far as I remember, died this time. Cedric. I wonder how advanced the books will get near the end - it seems like things like death and romance are going to be slowly integrated in...
Cho is single again. It seems like it is being groomed for Harry and her to end up together. But what about Hermione? She kissed Harry at the end of this book, just a kiss on the cheek yes, but still...
I am interested to see how things go with Draco and Crabbe and Goyle. Harry knows about their parents now, all Death Eaters. And Draco admitted his own agreement in the last scenes of the book... hmm.
Very interesting. I can't wait until the next one.

Bah - it's obvious Hermione and Ron end up together! Well, I think it is anyway:) They annoy each other too much not too.

I agree that ron and hermione are the couple. Harry and Cho, in my opinion, will get together, though maybe not in the next book. Hermione will be a prefect when it comes to that time. Snape will be the eternal question. Syrius is gonna keep on being a supa-badass.

I think that, as the books go on, they'll get rapidly more hardcore. Goblet of Fire is seriously more intense than Sorcerer's Stone. I think that, as Harry grows up, the maturity level of the books will grow proportionally. But I don't think that we'll ever know about Harry having sex. That would be a little much. Although Cho is an "older woman" ...

GoF seemed to expand the horizons a lot. At first, there was Harry, and Hogwarts. But now we know about the other schools, and we've been to the huge quittich match. The reader has a much broader scope of the wizarding world, and gives a serious perspective. Harry isn't just the school celebrity, he's world-renowned.

Yeah, I was talking to Rachel about how 17-year-old wizards will just kiss. ;) I don't think the maturity level of the books will rise much further above them, Rowling's big fame is based on the fact that these books make KIDS read.

i still say there's nothing unrealistic about 17-year-olds who just kiss.

Yeah, I can't wait to see what comes of Snape and Sirius... Hopefully, of course, Sirius gets cleared and everything is good and Harry ends up living with him until he moves out on his own with Cho/whomever.

But, I mean, we've already seen one casualty in the war vs. Voldermort, I wonder who else will go? Hagrid???

Maybe Snape is killed, and we find out he's been a good guy all along, and everyone is sad about it. That would be twisty.

That's what I thought, too, but...

Rowling has actually said that each book is intentionally directed at an older audience than the one before.
I think she hoped to aim each book at kids the age that Harry is during the book, or something along those lines.
