juldea: (joco close)
[personal profile] juldea
Last week, when replying to an LJ post by [livejournal.com profile] carinbrat, I noticed a weird bug - my knitting icon was showing as a completely other picture of some kind of sports coach blowing a whistle. It showed this in my picture page as well. I left it alone assuming some kind of pointer had been mixed up somewhere and would get fixed.

But just now I noticed in a comment stream to [livejournal.com profile] red_ervish that another one of my userpics was wrong - my "joco close" was now some kind of Pokemon. I went to my userpics page again, and not only those two but my bellydancer pic were all replaced with something completely random.

I changed my LJ password and reuploaded the userpics - luckily the ones that were replaced were ones I could recreate easily. Don't know if I was being slowly hacked or what, but that was weird. And luckily, it looks like deleting a userpic but then recreating one with the same name seems to relink old posts and comments. So no lasting harm done.

That happened to me once, but it was LJ's fault for being so spazzy. It wasn't just my userpics, but one or two on my f-list. I waited a few minutes, logged out, then back in, and it was fine. =)

I would write it off as LJ spazziness, but the picture stayed "wrong" in the same way for over a week. Reloading wasn't the issue...

We were talking about this last night at Carolyn and Brian's, apparently it happens a lot.

You know, I always saw your knitting icon.
I didn't realize that it had been switched with sports stuff... I just thought it had been switched out with another knitting icon.

maybe it was just your view of it? Which, makes the situation doubly mysterious.

It's happened to a couple of people. Nobody is sure why, yet.
