The award for First Person to Get Me Out of the House and Thoroughly Distracted Enough to Have a Good Time goes to
laura47 for inviting me to the Traveling Elevator Dance Party at MIT last night.
The premise: dress up exotically, have a few iPods and a portable speaker, and wander around throughout MIT dancing in buildings and halls and up and down elevators and through dorm rooms. Laura's post has a good synopsis of how it went.
The dressing up, it turns out, was good for me. Armor doesn't just come in metal or leather, it can also be silver sparkly tights and glitter on one's eyes. Out of the 20ish people that randomly joined the party, I only knew 5 or so, which provided an also-comforting layer of anonymity. Amd the premise was so wild and hectic there was no time for slowing down and thinking sad thoughts. So good job, laura47.
