Spoke to my doctor today. In addition to the "no bone damage" bit I already knew about the x-rays, apparently they are showing a lot of fluid in my knee, which is an indication of something. I'm being referred to an orthopedic surgeon. Hopefully this doesn't involve actual surgery, but you know, the joint doctor might know more about what's going on with my knee.

Today marked my third meniversary in my position at TTC. Yay! This means I am on the cusp of various small changes in income which benefit me.

And now, what you've been waiting for... tonight, [livejournal.com profile] londo, [livejournal.com profile] nerdx111, and I watched the just-released-today Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight animated movie.

It was bad.

But I knew it would be. I went into it expecting that, and you should too. It's pretty horrific. The draconians and dragons get a completely different animation style than everything else, in a very jarring sense. And the regular animation style is very 80s cartoon.

Tanis is appropriately emo. Flint is appropriately grumpy, but made a bit too comic. Tasslehoff is pretty good. Caramon is barely fleshed out. Sturm's antagonism towards Raistlin is a bit overdone, perhaps because they give him little else - the knight angle is barely touched. Raistlin's skin is not golden enough, and his voice not wheezy enough, but otherwise done well. Riverwind comes across as angry all the time - good. Goldmoon is nice and soft and cleric-of-healing-y. Fizban is pretty well-done, but spoiled. Tika's breasts move of their own accord. Takhisis's human form is barely clothed.

They almost make it through the movie staying faithful to the book - taking out segments, yes, but that's understandable - and then they FUCK IT UP at the end. GRAR. The battle with Verminaard ends not with Goldmoon punking him, but with the power of PALADINE shooting out of TANIS'S STOMACH as he counters Verminaard's demoralizing words/spells with the power of his FAITH - which he has consistently turned away from all movie long until that point. Goldmoon is NOT PRESENT for the entire fight at Pax Tharkas, as far as I can tell. This pissed us off and possibly was the one thing that we couldn't get over. I know I would've forgiven all the other stuff if the story was at least faithful.

So, we own it now. I don't know if I should say it's worth a watch, unless you're a hardcore Dragonlance fan like londo and me. If you are, you can borrow it. I'm sure londo won't mind it leaving our house. ;)

Okay, you know TTC is a common acronym for "Trying To Conceive," right?

God, I completely misread the title of your post!

DAMMMMMIT. I got my hopes up a tiny bit.

I just finished the annotated Autumn Twilight, and Caramon doesn't get much to do besides eat and kill things and moon over Raistlin (and a little over Tika) until Winter Night anyway.

BTW. If Londo doesn't have the annotated Chronicles yet, he must. I also just got the annotated Legends, too. The comments about the development of the kender race are worth the price of admission.

Hah, yes, [livejournal.com profile] red_ervish pointed that out to me a while back! But it also means Tape Transcription Center (http://ttctranscriptions.com/), where I work.

Oh, so LONDO needs to get the annotated Chronicles if he doesn't already? Not me?!

Well, in the movie, Caramon does eat (mentioned a few times), kill things (several fight scenes), and moon over Tika (this is really played up, with the above-mentioned jiggling breasts), but they didn't really flesh out his relationship with Raistlin too much. :/

That's not true at all.

He also tries to *sleep* with Tika.

I am three chapters from the end of Spring, and had (some) hopes for the cartoon adaptation. Sounds like it's not too awful but that perhaps the writer left the project shortly before adapting the end...?

I might want to borrow it at some point. Perhaps a watching party.
