I haven't updated since yesterday yet, oops. I went to work in the morning, but left midday to go to my doctor's appointment. This time, instead of being dismissive of me, she was totally awesome. I told her my knee and leg were swollen more now, and warm to the touch, and she examined and measured (my right calf was 3cm wider around than my left, eek) and signed me up to get an ultrasound to check for a blood clot in my leg, which would be bad, and x-rays to see what else might be wrong. Then she looked at the cyst, agreed it looked nasty, gave me lots of info on how to deal with it, and set me up with an appointment with a surgeon to get it removed. I got a prescription for both Tylenol 3 (+ codeine) and antibiotics. She drew a circle around the cyst with a pen so that I would be able to tell her if it expanded.

I got a cab voucher to take a taxi to the hospital where I got the ultrasound done, which was negative, and then the x-rays, which were unhappy because they involve a lot of uncomfortable positions held for long periods of time. Also those have to be reviewed by my doc, so I still don't know what the diagnosis is.

I dropped of my 'scripts, went back to work for a few hours, picked up the 'scripts, went home and went to bed. When I woke up this morning I started on the pills. The antibiotics don't have a physical effect, but this codeine, WOW. About 45-60 minutes after I take a pill, there is literally a sudden moment of vertigo where I go, "Oh yay, it's working now." Then I am the kinda-sleepy kind of loopy, but still OK to, say, handle knives and the stove.

So that's my holding pattern for today and the next day. The codeine makes me want to take naps, so that helps pass the time. Londo and I watched more Buffy Season 7 today, and I started a small knitting project out of actual knitting cravings. More on that later.

I'm fixing the typos, but I am quite ... stuporicious right now, typing horribly, and need to go to bed. Just thought I'd update everyone before I slept another night on my "still waiting for diagnosis" news. *thudzzzzz*

Yay for useful doctors! And Tylenol 3 is the shit. It has enough opioids for serious pain management but not so much that it takes you out entirely.

Hope your knee feels better soon.
