juldea: (sleepy)

I wish I lived in an environment where I were more encouraged to get a good night's sleep.

I think about it, and we as a people are way more pressured to stay up late, get things done, deadlines deadlines!! rather than to take it easy, enjoy the ride, and sleep when you need to.

I know my version of sleep is biased - some people only need 4 hours, and they're fine. I'm not one.

I need to be my own boss, start some kind of home business - where the day starts when I wake up, not necessarily that I wake up when the day starts. Is there a way to integrate that with teaching homeschoolers? I suppose I could be some kind of online teacher through email or videos or something.

The amount of time I need daily for things I should do, things I want to do, and things that will keep me sane adds up to way more than 24 hours. Which one gets cut?

you chose to have 2 jobs to cover the car payments for the expensive car you bought. add school into there (classes and homework), and no wonder there's no time for stuff to keep you sane. to me, the logical thing to go is work, after you've cut down on gaming. you always say you can't afford that -- i guess things like concert tickets and plane tickets have a higher priority for you than i would have imagined. so, you cut other places and still don't have enough money.
i guess the logical place (or at least the default place) for you to cut things out to save *time* is school. probably next semester will be heavenly for you, what with cutting out the school *and* the school stress. that should give you time and mental space enough to at least get a start on getting refreshed, and maybe even excited, about school stuff again.
of course, maybe you want to just drop out now. fuck the rest of the semester, drive to oregon, dip your toes in the freezing cold water for a month, get a full-time job as a waitress to pay for a tiny apartment for as long as it takes to get your head clear, or whatever your goal is. (that sounds really bitchy, but i really mean it.) yes, i know, money money. you're in state. it can't possibly be in the tens of thousands of dollars. ask your parents, ask your friends, take out a loan. there are ways to do whatever it is you want to do. my best advice is to find out what it is that you want to do, find a way to do it, and go.
obviously i don't know what's best for you. i do know that you've been seeming burned out and under tons of personal stress and everything for a while now, and whatever you've been trying (if anything?) to fix it doesn't appear to have been working. maybe it's time for something else. if waiting till finals are over and you're on your way out to california will hold you over mentally until that point, great! go with that. if it won't, find something else.

so, here i go again, being unhelpful. it's just frustrating to watch you go through the same thing over and over again and never change anything to try to make it better.

I think the really important thing there is keeping yorself sane (and I think happy is a big part of sane.) To do that, you have to do things you want to do, and things you should do. I think it's good to examine those things that you "should" do. Who says you should do them? Do you believe that? Do they help you in any way? Then examine the things you want to do in a similar light... Will they really make you happy? Find the things that you actually have to do to be happy, and if you still actually have time for other stuff, then you can start on things that you "should" do or want to do.

Remember, the expectations of others can only control you as much as you care.
