I feel totally gypped. I just learned that Powdermilk Biscuits aren't, and never have been, real. AND I WANTED SOME!

PHC will be performing a show in western Mass. in June. While not something I will immediately make plans to attend right now, if others were interested closer to the date, I can see it being an interesting experience. I used to listen all the time while delivering pizza. (Let me tell you, I never found another delivery driver who listened to opera and PHC while delivering.)

...perhaps, then, it's best not to mention the truth behind Bertha's Kitty Boutique, either...

Argh. That's the thing - I knew that a lot of his advertisements were false, but for some reason I always assumed Powdermilk Biscuits really existed. And I wanted some. :(

Cool. Remind me, and I'll decide closer to. :)

Hmm... June 30 is my birthday. I've been wondering what I wanted to do to celebrate. A day (weekend?) in the Berkshires could be fun.

I aspire some day to have a variety show like that. Podcasting may yet make it possible. We just need someone with that voice (and a face made for radio).

Hey now, this post was inspired because we watched the PHC movie, so he's gotten into movies too!

It's his joke. Though I noticed in the movie he got pretty good at mugging for the camera. ;)

I listened to PHC a lot as a kid - in fact, I remember many Saturdays checking the VCR to make sure Star Trek was taping, so we could listen to PHC and watch Star Trek later :)

When I was very young, I thought all the ads were real - in an era when they were ALL fake - they didn't have corporate sponsors at that point. Powdermilk Biscuits is probably their longest-running gag. My mom had to explain it to me - powdered milk is pretty nasty, and you would never ADVERTISE that it was used in making your "fresh" biscuits.

You know, I never even pondered that Powdermilk would imply powdered milk. I assumed it meant powder (in some floury sense) and milk, separately. Hmm. Oops? ;)

I'd love to go to a PHC show. When I was in high school I totally ripped off a Guy Noir sketch for a creative writing assignment. No one caught on. :)

Fear not.

Powdered milk is actually in a fair amount of biscuit recipes, especially for homemade baking mix (like Bisquik) to keep around the house and turn into pancakes, shortcakes, biscuits, etc.

Here is a biscuit recipe with powdered milk.

I don't think it's *that* ridiculous to think of advertising biscuit mix with powdered milk, no matter what anyone else on here says. :-)

Oops. That's actually a baking mix recipe, but, like I said, it says to use it in place of Bisquik.

Damn. I want some biscuits now.
