Just finished watching it for the first time, and I've gotta say, I am NOT a fan. I'd say it had a shitty ending, if it had one at all.

Tpau is right- it suffers from middle movie syndrome. I also felt that it was about half an act too long, and if you cut out the pointless crap on the island with the Jack-kebob (You know, that thing that didn't advance the plot one bit?) it would have been a MUCH better movie.

However, "We have an undead monkey!" is a great line.

It sucked less in the theatres because it was big.

It was very MatrixIIesque. I like movies with a definitive end. And yet, I would see it again, just to support Jack Davenport.

"empire strikes back, with pirates"

I'm with everyone else. It shoulda been 45 minutes shorter, it's really more the first half of a five-hour-long movie than a whole move in itself, and all the pretty CGI and whatnot is made cooler by a really big screen. But the Kraken was awesome, Jack got his hat back, and Keith Richards is going to be in the third one!

It certainly had inventively-contrived action scenes.

I watched 2 because I had seen the trailer for 3 yesterday and a friend told me it would make more sense and be more exciting if I had seen 2. It didn't.

Middle movies should stand up on their own, too.

But even Empire had more of a sense of finality at the end. This might entirely be because I don't remember a time when I DIDN'T know it to be immediately followed by RotJ, of course.

I have not acquired the DVD for my own use, because I really didn't like it. However, I have a few OCD-type habits, which includes having a full set of stuff, so if I like At Worlds End, then I'll probably feel compelled to get DMC just so I have the full set.

I overall agree, but I thought that the very last few seconds were an awesome (if cliffhanger-y) ending.

Geoffrey Rush, or the dog? ;)

Rush. The dog bit was cute, but hardly worth sitting through those interminable credits for.
