I hate spoilers!!

So, we did in fact finish Season 6 of The West Wing tonight and followed it with the first episode of Season 7.

...during which they TOTALLY SPOIL THEIR OWN ENDING. Gah. I guess the writers/directors/whomever was involved just wrote the piece for the stupid unthinking mass-market TV viewers?

Basically, this season is all about a presidential election. They started it off with a "three years later" flash-forward that utilizes a snazzy cut to just avoid blatantly showing you who won, but there are enough hints in it that I feel pretty darned certain. And this makes me grumpy. I HATE HATE HATE spoilers.

Although, I have to admit that one of the OTHER things that came out of the flash-forward made me smile. I guess I don't mind love plots being spoiled. ;)

p.s. If you know what I'm talking about and give me ANY information more than what I already know, our friendship is totally over. Seriously. I hate spoilers.

who do you think won? i watched that and was happy about the love plot spoilers, but i got like nothing about who won. maybe i am just dense or something...

When they filmed that, the writers didn't know who won (TPTB hadn't decided). Towards the middle of the season, they were leaning one way, but then something Real Life happened.

The flash forward doesn't really spoil anything (other than those particular half dozen or so people don't die) and, at the time I saw it live, I was grumbling that they filmed it so that it didn't give anything away. I suspect you'll change your mind about the flashfoward--but I won't say anything more now.

I ran the Season 7 DVDs myself during the month or so prior to the last election and that was playing all sorts of emotional tricks on me. But, by time I got to the end, I felt that season 7 (with a chunk at the end of season 6) was quite a respectable arc of the show.

I warned her that Season 5 was going to be discouraging at best. A lot of it is jsut really BAD (::coughAccesscough::), even if you can somehow NOT compare it to the Sorkin Years. The few really good episodes (Such as The Supremes) only highlight how awful the rest of the season is.

Season...5? Oh, right. The number between 4 and 6. Funny, I've gone an misfiled that one on my shelf again. It seems so "Wal-Mart bargain bin" compared to the others. :-D

There were some wretched episodes that season, I keep thinking of "No Exit" and "The Stormy Present". (must... not... apply... pencils... to... eyeballs...)

No Exit had some good moments. Charlie not liking the nasal swabs, CJ calling Donna out on her feelings for Josh, those were good. And I have a Law Enforcement related crush on Ron Butterfield. So any episode with him in it gets an automatic B from me just for that.

The Stormey Present, though- I just can't ever figure out what that episode is supposed to be ABOUT.

This is why no one is supposed to tell me anything! I KNOW what real-life event happens. Therefore what you just said makes me think you're spoiling me that the OTHER side wins instead because of that real-life event! Dammit.

I cannot imagine that the two major things I saw in the flash-forward (I just rewatched it, too, and they're still there!) weren't visible to other people. >_> I guess I just overanalyze things...

You've never heard of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo? Geezus, you Americans;). It's held at Edinburgh Castle as part of the Edinburgh Festival and showcases music, primarily military bands from around the world. It's worth seeing and hearing properly if you ever get the chance. I'm kind of surprised that it's not famous among marching bands everywhere but then I guess I don't know that much about marching bands. The performance by the New Zealand military band was particularly entertaining and it was a full brass band, not just drums.
