Was in hospital from approx. 6pm to 10pm. [livejournal.com profile] londo joined me at about 6:30 and kept me company the entire time - he was wonderful and I am lucky to have him.

Lyme status - the tests don't come in until Friday, when I am commanded to return. That said, the nurses did a great job of diagnosing and treating me for something else WITHOUT telling me that I did NOT have Lyme. (For those who hate double negatives: it is still a possibility that I have it, even though they gave me other stuff.)

Current diagnosis: cellulitis, an infection of the skin. Possibly caused by a bug bite that I scratched open, which allowed bacteria to enter and feast, but that is just supposition. The nurses said that based on what it looked like and the pain/limping symptoms I was complaining about, it was possible that if I had let it alone another few days the infection would've gotten to my hip joint and began to dissolve it. Wow!

I got an IV full of happy antibiotics. And when I say happy, I mean that I got the nurse that said, "Don't worry, I never miss," then proceeded to swear at my left hand as she dug around inside of it trying to catch a vein while my right hand squeezed londo's and my face was a myriad of pain grimaces. I do not do IVs well. She eventually gave up on the left hand, which is probably good because it is still bruised, and attempted on the right. This left me no hand with which to squeeze londo, but he continued to distract me from the process by rubbing my back, covering my eyes with his free hand, and talking to me about Local Sports Team. This is why he is a good boyfriend. A vein was eventually found in my right hand.

I got a full bag of Antibiotics of Mass Destruction (Keflex?) and a prescription for more (in pill form) that I have to take over the next week. If you are someone who knows what can happen when women take lots of antibiotics, oh yeah - the nurse warned me I was IN FOR IT and to eat lots of yogurt. Bleh.

Anyway, going back on Friday for the Lyme test and to see if the antibiotics do anything. Until then, limping on my infected muscle tissue, yay! And, sleep. Thankfully, I already took work off the next two days. Now let's see how much I actually get moved and cleaned. >_<

Oh, in good news - at the concert that etherial and I attended a couple weeks ago, I entered a raffle for Zipcar stuff and won! I get a t-shirt, a hat, a windbreaker, and $75 credit to my account! Hellz yeah.

Yeah. I've been finding all the people who told me not to wait until next week (when I could get a scheduled PCP appointment) and telling them that they were right. ;)

Keflex is good stuff for cellulitis. I have a few relatives that had it and had it clear up.

Good luck!
