[John Adams volunteers to visit New Brunswick after a report is given of Washington's soldiers being afflicted with venereal disease and alcoholism]
John Adams: Wake up, Franklin, you're going to New Brunswick!
Dr. Benjamin Franklin: [Half asleep] Like hell I am. What for?
Hopkins: The whoring and the drinking!
[Franklin hops up and immediately marches off right behind Adams]

I would love to find an audio clip of this (hopefully it still comes across in just audio!)

I'm not home at the moment, I'm in DC. If I were, I'd just pop my DVD of 1776 into the comp and create you one. Remind me of this again this weekend or next week in IM, and a clip shall be yours!

1776 is, beyond any shadow of doubt, my favorite musical. FAVORITE. I try to limit my watching to only around July 4, as part of my Independence Day celebration--and then I watch it at least once on DVD, and if it's on regular TV I try to catch it there, just 'cause it's cool to do that for some reason.

Wonderful! Thank you. :)

[livejournal.com profile] londo was astonished to hear that I grew to the ripe old age of 25 without ever seeing it, so we borrowed his mom's copy one week and watched it. I definitely enjoyed it, even though "The Lees of Old Virginia" makes me want to cry (while laughing, though!) ;)

1776 is fucking amazing... I'm sure there must be a way to find mp3s of it.

Long have I love 1776!! In fact - and I'm not positive - but it may be my dad that introduced it to Londo's mom . . . .

They say that God in heaven is everybody's God
I'll admit that God in heaven is everybody's God
But I tell you, John, with pride, God leans
A little on the side of the Lees, the Lees of old Virgina!
