Dieting? Can I ask some questions?

at my height, I was 300. I'm now 225 lb, mostly because of one (1) summer of atkins, one (1) month in China(and that blasted cafeteria), and two (2) decisions.. a) that food is wonderful and I love it all and love to cook for myself and b) that I want to run a marathon. (That's a secret, if I tell anyone I won't be able to. You know. Jinxes.)

So what's the Core/Flex diet? Is it your "forever diet" or for until-you-lose-the-weight? How much do you want to lose? "Fat-free sugar-free hot cocoa?" Did you ever stop believing? Does this suit make me look fat?

If I'm too nosy, you should know you are always welcome to tell me, "Zannah, shut the hell up."

Hehe. Zannah, shut the... nahhh.

I've been on Weight Watchers for um... *checks* 3.5 months now. I've lost 13 pounds total, which is slower than I want but hey, if that means it stays off, I won't complain.

Weight Watchers has two different programs: Flex and Core. Flex has no restrictions on what you can eat, but you DO have to calculate the 'Points' value of everything and you only get a specific number of Points to eat per day (plus a weekly bank that you can pull from if you go over for the day.) Core has a restricted list of foods you can eat (pretty much 'healthy foods') but you're not required to weigh/measure portions and keep track of Points values (although you also get a weekly Points bank to use if you want to eat things that aren't on the Core lists, so you have to count those.)

WW goes on weekly cycles starting and ending with your weigh-in date. You are free to switch between Flex and Core as long as you do full weeks of each. The entire time I've been doing WW so far, I've done Flex. I just think it's easier; I don't have to buy new groceries, I just have to measure and think about what I am eating of the food I have. The bad thing is that I've noticed myself trying to cheat the system lately. "I slept in really late today, so I'll just eat this entire box of macaroni and cheese so that I use up my points for the day all at once." Bleh. ;)

So, I decided that I'd try Core. But rather than just jumping into it, I wanted to see how I'd do with it compared to Flex. So right now, this week, I'm doing a hybrid. I'm technically following the Core plan as far as food choices and counting the non-Core foods, but I'm also following along and counting what I'm eating as if it were on the Flex plan. Just to see if the whole "don't restrict your portion sizes" means that I go crazy. ;)

Also, you know londo. You probably know him enough to know that he wouldn't be able to stand dating a woman who was stupid about body issues. ;) I think he's done a good job of making sure I'm losing weight for valid reasons, and that I'm not going to be a dumb girl about it. *grin* That said, my goal is actually the very top number on the Weight Watchers range of healthy weights for my height - 135. Considering the lowest I remember my college weight being was 143...

The hot cocoa was given to me by my retiring co-worker, and is actually pretty good.

Did you ever stop believing?
I need more context for this question.

Does this cock ring make me look fat?

How tall are you as 135 sounds really low to me as a "high end" for weight, but I guess seeing I'm not sure how tall you are I can't really be certain.

I'm 5'3". It sounds really low to me as well, which is why I'm not going for lower than that. ;)

Putting in 5'3" and 25:
113 - Minimum for all adults (BMI=20)
130 - Recommended maximum for ages up to 25 years
135 - Recommended maximum for ages between 25 & 45 years
141 - Maximum for all Adults (45+) (BMI=25)

I wouldn't go lower then the 143-140 for your height honestly, I'm 5'10 and atm about 148lbs (give or take a pound depending on how much sugar I take in during the day of course) and I'm considered "obese" on some of the BMI charts - while my Dr. tells me I shouldn't get below 140 to stay healthy.. follow your insticts I wouldn't go much lower then what you were at when you entered college. :) From what I can tell with the pics up with your knitting projects you look just fine as you are silly lady. :)

Heh, the 143 wasn't the weight I entered college, it was the weight I got to during the semester I didn't take classes and did exercise daily. ;)

I'm not like, "omg I must reach 135 or I will cry!!" It's a rough estimate, and if I get closish and am happy where I'm at, I'll stay there instead. :)

K, as long as you don't look at 135 as a "target" thing - I've seen way to many people go overboard on thinking they need to loose more weight only to find even then they still aren't happy. But you certainly sound like you know what you want to do and are going to be smart about it. =0)

I clicked on the link, and that chart actually seems more sane than some charts I've seen. One chart told me that the healthy weight range for someone who is 5'1" and 22 years old is 95 to 112 pounds. Umm... I don't fucking think so.

*mutters to self* 95 pounds! */muttering*
