To buy or not to buy... It is, after all, the same price as SIX years of yearly accounts, with the sole benefit (as far as I can see) of 100 extra userpics. I don't know what I'd do with 100 of those. I'm fine with the amount I have.

But it's a PERMANENT account! That means awesomeness. Or something.

The other advantage of a permanent account is that it insulates you from any future price changes on LJ - if they raise the yearly price next year, you won't have to pay any more. Not that I think it's likely they'll do that, but you never know.

(I'm not getting one. Can't afford it right now.)

I wanted one simply because it's like a paid account without an expiration date; other pay sites I use have had price increases that renewing memberships are not protected from. Since I've already paid for four years of paid LJ account time for myself and 2- and 6-month periods of paid account time for others, it was logical to acquire a permanent account.

I sprang for it so a) I wouldn't have to worry about it and b) I figure that although I may take a long reak someday, stuff will be here when I get back. Plus there's the little incentive of extra userpics and the probability that new/spiffier things will automatically come my way.
