I know you prefer places reachable by public transit so this might not be an option, but my company is planning on hiring a ton of people this summer for all kinds of positions. www.meditech.com
My company is hiring, at least a little. Very T accessible (near South Station. Definately telephone customer service jobs available, not sure what else. See this link. Note that some of these listings are for another office that I'm not really familiar with.
Full disclosure: We're part of a large national bank based in Ohio. This is the company that will not cover my medically necessary gastric bypass surgery, though the benefits have been pretty good in general. But I personally really like the atmosphere at our local office, and my supervisors and managers are really supportive. Indeed, I think most of the managers are excellent right now, and I really like the direction the company is going right now in terms of overall strategy. Anyways, it could pay the bills for awhile. Tell them I sent you and I'd get a bonus.
Ok, that's really weird. I didn't have to enter a password the first time I did it --I started from the homepage, <a href="http://www.key.com>Key.com</a>-- but this time it's asking me for a password too. I am baffled. Very sorry!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Letters (http://www.ou.edu/cas/classics/programs/lettersdegree.html) (liberal arts/humanities/"being educated") with a minor in Physics, and lots of Math/Physics schooling background (I worked for a textbook company in college in varying roles from answer-checker to home-school phone tutor on their 1-800 line.) I also am pretty decent on a computer with Windows/Office, and have minor programming background but am absolutely willing to learn more (and am good at learning quickly.) Lots of Customer Service experience but, in truth, don't want to have to deal with customers if I can help it. Type above 100wpm.
