juldeaUmmmm what can I say that you probably don't know? Amazing fucking fight scenes; the action is awesome. Nothing overboard or gratuitious like I thought from the trailer. And not just hand-to-hand fight scenes, either, there's a space battle that rivals Star Wars (and some AMAZING flying by Wash!) And to counter that, there's the obvious moments of laughter... the whole thing shines with Joss's writing... and sometimes the characters don't even need a witty line, they just look at each other and you crack up laughing.
The whole plot is definitely River-centric, but it energized me even though I was sick of those plots with the show already. It was less "haha look at crazy River" and more "check out powerful River!"
Everyone makes an appearance except for "Mrs. Reynolds," which saddens me a bit, but I don't know where she could've fit. Perhaps a sequel? :D But yeah, even though some of the characters have left the ship in the intervening times, they all get to play roles in the movie.
There was... well, it was obvious sex was happening, but it wasn't on-screen in any form other than passionate kissing. The movie is pretty nicely PG-13.
And the drama... oh the drama... I expected to laugh and to be on the edge of my seat during the movie, but I didn't expect it to make me (1) actually scream in surprise/fear, and (2) sob. Not just cry, but SOB. Argh. Now I'm thinking about that part again...
Oh, right, back to the plot. One small complaint I will have about the movie is that the 'surprise' is a little transparent throughout the movie (or at least I figured it out really early-on), but there are still twisty secrets enough to keep it exciting when you find out the truth.
The villain is cool because he actually has a reason for doing the things he does... he's not just a random bad guy doing bad guy things.
