I broke myself :(

My knee is all fux0red. I dunno what I did... I was just walkin' around work (in my new shoes, which have a heel taller than I'm used to by about half an inch) and something in my left knee did a kinda combination pop-twang and I thought, "Ow, that kinda hurt... but it doesn't hinder my walking really... ah well," and continued walking around. Later I lay down for a while, like 2 hours, and when I got up it was STIFF and HURT. So when I got home I put ice on it, and noticed that there's a small bit of my knee that's swollen... like a shallow but wide spot on the knee just lower and outside of my kneecap.

I put ice on it again when I woke up in the middle of the night...

...and now I'm getting ready for work. Bleagh. I assume that I'll walk in limping and my boss will say, "Yes, it's fine if you go to Urgent Care immediately."

Ouchie. Sorry, my knees generally are in bad shape, so I sympathize.

I can probably provide crash space on my futon for the two of you, if you still need it.

Ouch. Hopefully rest and maybe some exercise will take care of it. Sounds like something I did to myself a while back--mine became sore in the same area you describe and I had a very hard time walking on it. The best my doctor at the time could guess was that a piece of cartilage shifted around. Eventually it cleared itself up, but not without a couple of flare ups over the next several months.

(I am not a doctor but I have a white lab coat and can use power tools. Why won't they let me try outpatient surgery?)

Urgent Care will probably just tell you to ice it down and give you some anti-inflamatories.
