So, I will be attending the wedding of [livejournal.com profile] anitra and [livejournal.com profile] nightskyre at the end of the month. [livejournal.com profile] londo is their best man, and will be in a black tux with dark purple accents. It's a Saturday daytime church wedding.

Is this too dressy? [livejournal.com profile] tpau and I went shopping this morning here in Maryland, and found one at a nearby store...

I don't think that's too dressy, it should be fine

Seeing as your date will be wearing a tux, almost nothing would be too dressy.

I think this dress is lovely! Go for it!

i am voting Too Dressy. it is a lovely, beautiful dress, but i fear people will think you are a bridesmaid or something.

i've got to agree, it'd be great if it didn't have a train. it IS gorgeous. but definitely fancy for a guest - and i've been a maid of honor twice and have played the "what is she/he wearing?!!? game with the bride"

I have reasonable confidence that the bride won't mind.

I dunno about other guests though.

But her date is the best man.

I think even without the train it would be too fancy for just a guest. But the train really does put it over the top.

But the person you're replying to is the bride. ;) And if she says go for it, I'll go for it. Assuming I find one in my size, that is.

Oh! I was confused for a minute, and then looked at the picture... it's not a long train. It's a shawl that she's holding loose. The skirt is simply normal long length. :)
