Man, sometimes it's worth it to be really skanky dirty, just to have an appreciation of the difference when you emerge from the shower freshly clean.

So, I finished Sandman today... I'm sad. I want more. Well, there's the couple books on Death and a whole slew of other Gaiman stuff to read, so I guess I shouldn't worry.

Amusing and related: [livejournal.com profile] londo, [livejournal.com profile] laura47, et al were involved in running a 10-day Sandman larp at MIT when I met - well, both of them. I had only read half of the series at that point. I picked up from conversation that part of the plot of the larp was that Morpheus had gone away somehow and that Daniel had taken over as Dream King. At the time, I thought it was really creative and interesting to twist the Sandman world like that. This, of course, means that about halfway through The Kindly Ones, I had a very lightbulb-on ("Oh, INTERCONE!") moment. ;)

"So, I finished Sandman today... I'm sad. I want more."

That's the mark of a good story. At least, I've always found that to be true.

I own the sandman series and it rocks. If I had known you were into comic books I would have lent it to you.

By the by, the follow ups weren't written by Gaiman and so while I can't say they aren't worth reading, trust me when I say that they aren't worth buying. If anything, I'd recommend leaving the series on the great ending it had.

If you're looking for other recommendations though, I'd be happy to make some. Of those, the one I could make offhand is V for Vendetta.

Have fun,
-Lyle

Silly - I think you DID lend me Sandman for the first time, a couple of years ago. Either it was you or someone lending me your books for you. ;)

Thanks for the recommendation. I might ask for more later :)

Actually, at least two "follow ups" *were* written by Gaiman: The Dream Hunters, and Endless Nights.

And can you lend me those, too? ;)

It is teh awesome. I'll see if I can find it somewhere for you in Boston. Preferably for free. ;)
