Ha! Check these out for sure.

EDIT: Okay, wow, forget these incessant links. Just read the entire darned comic, okay? It is too awesome for words.

I mean, c'mon, this.

Well I've read a few of the current ones and they were interesting, so I went back to the beginning. Now half the time it's funny and half the time it seems like a ripoff of Calvin and Hobbes... guess I'll have to see whether or not he moves more away from Watterson's style as he progresses.

Hmm... while I certainly see the similarities, I've never thought of O&M as a ripoff of Watterson. Have you read a lot more C&H than I have? ;)

Dunno, but I've all the cartoons (not all the books, cause that would be repetitive) and I've read them numerous times a year since I was about 13 :). I really oughtta gather up individual comics though of both. There was a week or 2 long strip of O&M where Ozy receives a haircut and loses all his hair... that comes pretty much from Calvin receiving a similar cut from Hobbes. The bullys are similar, show and tell, M's different "settings" on her imaginary laser gun, etc. :)

I will have to say that O&M is more directly political than C&H though... never see C&H naming politicians and such. That's an interesting twist. Oh, and as an addition to my last comment, in many cases even the lettering looks the same. :)

The political bits are why I like it so, so much. :) Whether or not I agree with the statement made, I like the manner of presentation.

Btw, I check out the FAQ and apparently Simpson was inspired by C&H in the early years, which might account for a lot of it. The more recent stuff doesn't seem so much so...
