bass pictureOffer up for friends first:

It has become increasingly obvious that the lovely, lovely bass guitar I purchased through Gaea Spore is just going to sit and rot in my bedroom. I don't have an amp, I don't have the money for an amp, and I don't really have playing opportunities. Therefore, I'm going to sell it.

There are webpages here and here that celebrate the wonders that is the Hamer Slammer SB4F. They seem to be on sale new for $200 these days, although the Hamer website quotes retails as $340 (note: this link shows a different finish than I have). Other websites show the retail price as $310 (and a sale price of $175). I/We paid $250 for it when it was purchased in... 2002?

EDIT: User reviews can be found here!!

The bass was seriously played for less than a year, and has been in my room leaning up against a wall since then (or packed in a box, surrounded by bedding - it was cushioned by all my pillows and blankets during the move). It is in awesome condition; the only blemishes are a few scratches on the back. The front is completely unblemished. It has a (non-matching) silver strap. Oh, very important - please note it is a short scale bass. The scale length is 30.5" (standard is 34"). It was pretty awesome for my overall shortness (I have short arms, even for my 5'3" height), but it was also played by others with larger/longer bodies and frames without difficulty.

Since it's in such good condition, I'm asking $150 for it. Any takers?

What about using a line-in on your comp. Better than using an amp? I want it, but I'm poor :(

Sonofabitch.

I was just thinking *yesterday* about how I'd like to learn how to play bass, but most bass guitars are too big for my hands, and how you have a small bass, and how I should get a bass like yours.

Well, then. Shipping might be a bitch... but what do you suggest?

Thing is: I prolly can't afford it right now.

But I covet thy bass. Truly.

Tiffany and I decided that we would go halfsies on the bass if we can figure out shipping. If you're going to be in Oklahoma anytime in the next couple months you could bring it and that would be fine with us, but we don't know if you were planning on coming here anytime. What do you think?

By the way if you didn't know this is Zach flyingindie's boyfriend.

Silly Zach. Of course I know who you are. :) (I assume that replying to Tiffany will get to both of you...)

I am currently not planning any jaunts into the Oklahoma area. $10,000 of debt kind of keeps it out of my plans. :( However, I have a boyfriend who works for UPS and a friend who works for FedEx. I can discuss cheap shipping options with them and see what can work out. If I remember correctly, shipping normally would be $25-30.

It is the same color as in the picture - "sunburst flame" or something silly like that. Red and yellow.

Sure. Just find out about shipping and let us know how much it will be. (Is the $150 price with or without shipping?)

The quoted price of $150 was pre-shipping. I haven't had time to find out how much shipping will be, yet (I need to weigh the bass and find out about getting it in a box, with padding, and handled fragile-like...). However, I'll offer to you that I'll cover the first $15 of shipping. Deal? (As I said before, I think original shipping was $25.)

Hmmm... now just to figure out how to get it to someplace to mail it. Heh.

Email me your address? I'm sure I have it somewhere, but just to be sure...
