juldea: (sleepy)

You know, I made the subject line, and I don't feel like there's that much more to say. But I can fill in the gaps, I suppose.

I left work on Friday and got on the commuter rail to Worcester, where I was met by [livejournal.com profile] londo. We had yummy Chinese food for dinner and smooched for a while before he went to work. Bored, I got online and found [livejournal.com profile] tragic_story, another Worcester friend that I needed to see. He picked me up and we watched a few episodes of Firefly while drinking really nasty cheap wine. Then I was taken back 'home' (as it was for the weekend) and fell asleep waiting for [livejournal.com profile] londo to come home from work.

I posted on Saturday, so you all know about the pot roast and such.

On Sunday, we woke up and headed for yet another session of the Something Positive gaming groups, this time in Worcester. [livejournal.com profile] kobold was, of course, DMing, and the players were [livejournal.com profile] londo and I, [livejournal.com profile] invader_haywire, [livejournal.com profile] tragic_story, [livejournal.com profile] formosa, and "Vaughn" (who may or may not have a livejournal). We were set to recreate 6th level characters when [livejournal.com profile] kobold called me and said to pass the word on to create 15th levels instead, because he wanted to really work at killing us. FUN. So I made a badass 15th level monk that killed things with his hands. In fact, I think I soloed a mud golem in two rounds. *flex* Aside from the roleplaying, that game was lots of fun due to the company, and the fact that I drank five bottles of hard cider before/during the game... I was probably 4 on the 1-10 drunk scale, and I have no clue if anyone knew. Anyway, the company. Well, I sat inbetween [livejournal.com profile] londo and [livejournal.com profile] kobold, and that right there is a recipe in disaster for my mental health. Then, there was the moment when [livejournal.com profile] invader_haywire made me laugh so hard I inhaled salsa down the wrong pipe - that hurts a lot. Believe me. Don't try it at home.

Anyway, the game was kind of forced to break up at 6 due to various people having to leaving, including [livejournal.com profile] londo and me. We had a LARP to get to.

This LARP was METEOR!, which is based on all sorts of bad 80s movies. Some of the characters were: Indiana Jones, Robocop, The Shadow, Ash, some jedi, Shredder, Ray Stantz (from the Ghostbusters), Ferris Bueller... that's it for the moment, but you get the idea. Sadly, no Goonies characters. I don't remember the name of [livejournal.com profile] londo's character but he was a crafty bad guy. I ended up deciding to just watch to see what LARPing was like. That plan ended up about as entertaining as I thought it'd be, which was sporadically. There were times when hilariously funny things were happening, and times when I wanted to take a nap. So, yeah. And - there were some really bad roleplayers. I don't know if the group that was there is an accurate cross-section of all LARPers, but if it is, I can totally outact many of them.

So, I left Worcester this morning, slept on the commuter rail on the way back, went to work today, did laundry this evening, and now here I am! Getting ready for sleep. Because, damn. Sleepy.

Yeah, I am sorry about that. As much as it was a win for me because I succeeded in making you do it, I don't like to cause people THAT much harm.

As for LARPers, you get a wide spectrum. METEOR was designed for newbies, so you get a lot of newbies. You also get a lot of people who have way too many OOC moments. But then you can also get real moments of tremendous drama. In the end it usually works out or crashes in a ball of fire.

belated response

Hey, no lasting harm done, and I look back at the experience fondly. I won't go so far as to say, "Feel free to do it again sometime," though. ;)
