Wow. For those who are fairly impatient to start a family - or confused as to why they haven't yet - Embryotech has what you need.

No, wait. Are you really surprised that so many people want babies really badly? I know you don't, but does it really confuse you that others do?

Sorry this got buried under a ton of unreplied-to comments.

Yes, I'm surprised that people want babies that badly. I understand to a certain extent, but I generally think that the more you want a baby, the more likely it is that you have psychological issues.

For example, I know that you and Nick wanted Veronica and tried specific things in attempts to get her. This doesn't indicate any issues to me, and although I don't understand it I accept it. However, if you guys had spent lots of money on fertility calculators and such things, I would've been very confused. What was your life SO missing that only a child could supply?

I guess it's impossible to explain the urge. To me, it's like explaining to someone what it feels like to be horny. It seems so natural that you assume it's universal, and words can't describe how compelling it can be.

In other words: don't worry, I'll understand when I'm older? ;)

Oops, I wasn't trying to be patronizing. I know there are people out there who never, ever get aroused, and who aren't particularly interested in changing it. Just not something they want. That's how alien it seems to me to not want children, though I think the childfree outnumber the asexual (or are at least much more vocal about it). I certainly recognize that there are people who have no interest in having kids, and I don't care. It doesn't impact my life if they remain childless (or childfree). It just seems foreign to me. For all I know, you *might* get bitten by the baby bug at 40, or you might happily go on without any such twinges forever. I won't try to pressure you to have babies to provide playmates -- or babysitting fodder -- for my kids. That's dumb.
I know it seems as weird to you to *want* kids as it does to me to *not* want them. You're just in the minority, so... I don't know where I was going with that thought. Nowhere with a point, I'm sure.

Oh, no worries, my comment wasn't indicating a patronized feeling at all. I simply found it amusing, especially since I don't deny its possibility.

I'd be much happier babysitting your kids myself. :D Well, I assume I'll like Milo as much as I like Veronica, at least. Just be certain that when the time comes, you'll have a couch I can make a fort out of. ;)

Oh man, Milo is so much easier to like than Veronica. At least at this point, compared to her at 3 months. He always always smiles, or at least doesn't cry. He'll probably be Hell as a toddler.
