Woohoo! $267 back on my taxes this year. That's something good about being unemployed half of the year, I suppose...

Good for me getting them done in February, too. Unlike last year, when I did them in... September? ;) (Note: if the government owes you money, they won't penalize you for taking a long time to do your taxes. After all, you're letting them keep their money for longer.)

do you have to file jointly? is that a better option than separately? or is it just the "married" bit that's scary?

Well, I found out that the "married filing jointly" is only for special situations and is really hard to get approval for.... i had no idea!
