I just got to the computer and read the email, but I won't have time to complete it before I leave for work. I can forward it on to myself at work but, erm, I'm a temp and hesitant about spending a lot of time on something that isn't job-related. I'll try to do what I can. By what time do you need it back?
I also see no space in the form for me to put, "I'm new, please go easy on me!!!!" which is the reason I'm second-guessing everything. Not very confident in my larping skill yet, seeing as how I've never done it. So here's my formal declaration of that, and I'll reply to the email as soon as I can.
Imagine if everyone at the OMP pretended to be their characters... and the wizzes had actually written out a plot for us in the sense that they'd email you before the OMP and give you specific things you're supposed to accomplish. And during the OMP they'd come up to you and tell you if something changed...
So it's lots and lots of acting (or becoming the character, beyond acting, if one is good enough), and I don't know that I'll be any good at it. And now I've paid money and committed myself to doing this for a whole weekend, surrounded by mostly people I don't know... So I'm nervous.
Odd-but-fun is the general idea, yes. It doesn't cost that much money - $45 at the time I signed up - although who knows what'll be requested for costuming... hmm.
i don't mean to come off as shitty if i do sound that way,but am i the only one that would find it really weird and difficult to stay in a character like that?
Not at all... that's why I'm nervous about it. I'm not sure I know how to act like a different person for an extended amount of time. I'd have to supress my real responses to things, and that just sounds weird and difficult.
Never fear. I'm here to make things easy for you. You'll be cast in a couple of days--a little later than most people. I'm glad you'll be playing. I'll be in touch!
I have no objections to being cast later, seeing as I only got my form in last night. :) Although, everyone is else is torturing me with their knowledge of who they are and what they'll be doing... :)

Basically what it sounds like. And depending upon the time period, you have to know how to swordfight for real and stuff like that.

on 18 Feb 2004 08:57 (UTC)No second-guessing! Fill that form in and we'll give you a great part. No knowledge of sword fighting necessary, either. ;)
