I'm at my sister's house in Jones, OK. I'm connected at 32kbps. Not even, actually, 31.2. Ye gods. I'm absolutely copy/pasting this post to notepad before attempting to submit it.
I just returned of a night of crazy fun with high school friends. Wait, let me back up.
I stayed up all night on Tuesday, packed up and left Wednesday morning, drove to Providence, parked at the airport there, got on my plane. I remember the safety video and then I was out, completely dead asleep. I woke up after landing, too. The pilot must've been good. I made my connection in Chicago and had a similar sleep experience on that plane. It was actually kind of annoying, because I kept putting on my Radiohead mix tape and then falling asleep while it played through. Hehe.
My dad got me frome the Tulsa airport and we stopped for some ARBY'S (which I can't find in Boston) before continuing to my grandparents'. Eventually most of the crew gathered - grandparents, my dad, my sister, my cousins Kadilyn, Kevin, and Dylan, and Dylan's family: wife Kathy, children Destiny, Hope, Grace, and Zoe. Yeah, wtf is up with that naming scheme... Anyway, we had presents on Christmas Eve as is the regular thing.
I made out with: a new thick blue bathrobe with a star/moon print, a really freakin nice Eddie Bauer coat that I'm going to have to trade in for a smaller size, a silly cat poster, a Christmas ornament, and $100. The $100 will buy me Buffy Season 5.
Today brought a quick stop at my great-aunt's for familial well-wishes. Generally we (the immediate family) would stay for the huge family meal served, but my father had to fly back to Detroit today for some reason. My sister and I drove him to the airport and then continued on driving to OKC to my mom's house. She was very happy to see me.
Then, I got a phone call from Sean Douglass! He was my senior year prom date. Also a part of "the crew" from back then. He told me there was a party tonight at my old best friend Heather's house. I told him not to tell anyone else I was coming, and I crashed. It was tons of fun. We sat around and talked about old times, drank wine, eventually left to go to a pretty crappy bar/pool hall, then ended up at Denny's at 3am.
The best goodbyes with old friends are the types when you don't say goodbye or act like time has passed... You just pretend you're back in high school and will see them tomorrow morning.
So now I'm back home, sober, tired... I'll be able to get online from here and catch up, albeit very slowly, but it's something. I don't know what the rest of the trip holds but I hope it's more friends, family, and fun. :)
