It seems that female friends will leave messages for me over AIM if I'm not at the computer, but male friends don't ever do this. Is that just coincidence, or is there a reason?

[livejournal.com profile] azadam is in Boston visiting now. We're going to go out on the town tomorrow. [livejournal.com profile] amandalenon, I plan on bringing my camera and snapping pictures for you. ;)

Time is passing quickly until Christmas and I have no clue what I'm doing. I've now been invited to Christmas celebrations in Oklahoma (family; temping but expensive), Connecticut (Adriana's family; closer and more familiar, but... big scary Italian family), and Boston ([livejournal.com profile] alexx_kay; very close locationally but much less familiar). Or I could do like I did for Thanksgiving and sit at home and eat ramen. Since the holiday itself doesn't really mean much to me outside of the societal traditions, I have nothing against that last plan. I might even end up wishing I had done it... I just wish I had more time in the day, or more time before Christmas happens. It's only two weeks away! Geez.

My hair is getting long (for short hair). It'll soon start getting in my eyes. Tonight at dance practice I put it back with barettes, and two people asked me if I had cut it. It was bizarre.

I've done a good job the past few days of going to bed at the same time every day. 3am, after Loveline is over. Getting up at the same time has been a bit more difficult, but it's gettin' there... Not that it's likely I'll get a job that lets me sleep from 3am-10am, but getting on a sleep schedule (and not 12 hours of sleep) is a good idea anyway.

I'm currently frustrated because I am very impressed by people who have good memories, and I don't have one. I'd love to be able to remember most of what I see and hear. I am able to pick up things quickly... I just don't retain them if I don't put them into use. I've forgotten all the Java I learned in CS 1323 :( However, I'm sure I could pick it right back up given a skim of the book and a few pounded-out programs. If I didn't keep at it, though, off it would go again... *sigh* I'd like to be able to pull obscure but interesting knowledge out of nowhere when appropriate, too!!

Well, it's 3am now. Time for bed. I thought I had more to say, but it's not immediately coming, so I'll just have to post it later. Goodnight!

As far as I'm concerned, the key is to pull interesting information out of nowhere online... Because online, nowhere is everywhere. In online conversation, you can casually bring up a relevant bit of trivia which you just looked up, without ever having to have remembered it. I once terrified a random IMer with that trick.

I've grown too dependent on Google for holding up my ends of conversations. And dickshunary.com. I don't know nearly as much spontaneous bullshit in person.

I AIM'd you once, but you never said anything back. Then again all I said was 'Moo'

But my point is not that I want to be able to impress people, I just want to know things. I want to know everything. I'm sad when I know I knew something once but I can't remember it now, and I'm envious when people can read something once and remember it forever.

Well, sometimes if I return and am in a bad mood, and the message left for me isn't ... more useful than "moo," I'll close it without replying. Sorry :P

Although I suppose I'm hindering my efforts at getting random IMs by not responding to those I get, hrm...
