Only got 75 posts read... I have to go now to meet Jim (new roommate) and Jen (friend) for lunch in Harvard Square.

That is SO nice to say casually. :)

In the same vein: last night before bed I went up to give Jim a hug, he responded with a very tight squeeze and we just stood there for a few minutes holding each other until I said, "I'm glad I'm here, too," and we both laughed. We're both recovering from long dark periods in our lives and I imagine this is going to be great for both of us.

He does look like he's getting better. I was amazed at how much he lost this last year. Very impressed.

So... who is Jim?

Ah, I guess I haven't clarified this enough yet. :)

Jim is a friend I met years ago on the mud, Three Kingdoms. He plays a knight(like me) named Wiener - pronounced with a "v" sound at the beginning because it's the name of a German mathematician. Not the other "wiener", heh.

Jim's a soon-to-be grad student in physics - right now he works at the Harvard Center for Astrophysics and is studying for his GREs.

Antonio (whose name you will know very well soon if you don't already) is one of his friends from college (Oberlin, in Ohio). A bunch of them there started mudding, and I get along famously with all of them.

Jim went through a very bad time over the past year and a half or so, around the time he broke up with Jen, whom he dated for a very long time. He's just now getting back into shape, emotionally and physically, and my presence as a motivator to get out of the house and DO things and socialize will be really great for him.

And of course, he will have similar influence on me.

As to the underlying question, there's no romance there. Or sexual tension, even. He's got something running slowly but smoothly with a girl he's known for a long time, and well... you'll learn more about what's going on with me soon.

We're just kind of travelling on the same wavelength right now of "get in shape and get stable" and our presence in each others' lives is really, really great. :)

Cool beans. It sounds like a nice living situation.
