My check as Adriana's Personal Care Assisstant, or PCA, comes through Cerebral Palsey of Massachusetts, or CPMA. They go through another company for payroll. Until recently, that company was the Center for Living and Working (CLW). About the second week I was here (in Massachusetts, not yet in this apartment), that changed to a different company (of which I don't know the name).

That was right in the middle of a pay period. So we filled out one time sheet for the first half of the pay period and sent it to CLW, and sent the second half's time sheet to the new company. This is apparently what they told Adriana to do.

These checks should've arrived one and a half weeks ago. Last Wednesday, at the week-late mark, Adriana started making calls. The new company said they could not process paychecks until CLW sent the current year-to-date info. CLW said it had sent this. CLW said that the pay period was messed up. People put Adriana on hold, hung up on her, argued with her, etc. And worse yet, no one would talk to anyone except for Adriana about this information. So I couldn't speak up, and I'm decidedly less confrontational than Adriana is ;)

Finally, today, we got ahold of someone who said that the changeover did NOT happen in the middle of a pay period, it happened about 3/4 of the way through. So the new company had to send the time sheets from that second half to the OLD company so that they would have the full information. It was reported to us that the information was sent last Thursday, but just to be safe, we re-faxed all of it. I'm glad Adriana keeps such good paper records.

So now we're coming up on a whole new set of paychecks that SHOULD arrive on Wednesday, but won't. Since the new company needs the updated year-to-date info that won't be obtained until after the old company processes the late checks.

ARGH.

Bernice (another PCA) is having problems paying bills and rent because her paychecks are late. She's in the middle of a divorce... I feel so sorry for her.

As for me, I have $.10 in one bank account, $.45 in another, and $.53 in cash. Once those paychecks come in, I'll be fine and actually paying off some credit cards, but until then...

I'm glad I went grocery shopping with the last of my money.

Oklahoma people: Any deposits into my Arvest bank account would be greatly appreciated and repaid in full. :) Get the number from goldbug or Kate.
