what happened today
31 May 2002 23:27Today was Jason's sister Melissa's graduation. There was a flurry of activity around the house this morning as his parents attempted to make the house look like no one lived in it, in an attempt to fool the relatives arriving later in the evening. *roll eyes*
Luckily, I was exempt from housework, although I did my part to clean things up by beginning to repack my car for moving tomorrow. I took everything I didn't think I'd touch today or tomorrow and put it in the car, and actually that did free up a lot of space.
Due to rain, the graduation was held indoors instead of outdoors, and therefore the guests were limited to 5 per graduate instead of 10 in order to fit them into the school auditorium. This left Jason and I able to stay at home, which he wanted to do anyway. The relatives that travelled up here went instead.
We watched a lot of Robotech on DVD today. We started watching the Macross Saga, for which Jason has all the episodes on DVD, during our New Hampshire trip. We're now on episode 29 of 36 - almost done. We watched 6 episdoes today.
I also made banana bread! While Jason's family was at the graduation, I used the 3 overripe bananas in the kitchen and Jason's mom's recipe (not vegan) to cook it up. Yum yum. It came out well. Jason and I also made a big fruit bowl - strawberries, green grapes, blueberries, kiwi slices, and cantaloupe chunks. I think the two of us will finish it off, easily. I wish he liked as many vegetables as he did fruits! I will just have to coerce him ;) When veggies are sliced fine enough, you don't notice them...
I don't know how things will go after tomorrow. It's a 45 minute drive from his house to my apartment, and he doesn't have a car of his own. It takes about an hour and $4.50 to take the subway, and that's without factoring in crowds and those types of delays. There is a monthly pass I could buy that would get me access to all MBTA (Mass. Bay Transportation Authority) services out to zone 4 (distance from center of Boston that the Brockton stop is)... but it's $119! And while the total subway access would probably be great for me, I hope that he uses the commuter rail more than I do. Argh. If there was only some way we could split the use of it... For now I think we just have to wait and see. He still needs to get a job, and that'll affect things for sure. *sigh*
Just getting to Boston doesn't solve all the problems, you see. ;)
