So, I went to Birka. It was pretty cool.

I wore my new, uh... my new garb. I can't classify it by time period or place because I don't know what they are! ;) But it's a long green dress with a shorter overdress in black, with this trim on the hems (neck, sleeves, bottom). [livejournal.com profile] tpau was the inspiration and assistance in making it. With the black belt [livejournal.com profile] rufinia gave me, I was lookin' nice. Yay for new garb.

I brought along [livejournal.com profile] londo for the sole purpose of the sushi run. He, amazingly, had a good time. I expected him to hate the whole day... but he consented to throw on a tunic of [livejournal.com profile] learnedax's, and ended up sitting at the Information booth for several hours answering people's questions! He even answered the, "What's this all about?" question several times, amusing considering he's into it even less than I am. Hehe. Oh, and he was reading Dune there at the table, which is also amusing. Talk about anachronism. ;)

There was shopping. I got: feast gear (finally), a belt pouch and a better button for it, yarn for [livejournal.com profile] londo's klein bottle hat, a bellydance unitard (it looks like pants and a crop tank, but really it has a mesh panel in the middle - mine is black with black mesh, so it's more obvious that it's one piece. I'll take a picture... I tried it on for [livejournal.com profile] londo and it got results so apparently it's good!), and a snood. Whee, money.

Court was actually fun and enjoyable, not boring like I thought it'd be. Well, there were unfun parts, but they were mostly due to the idiots in the row behind us. :P But there were lots of pretty things to look at, awesome people who spoke, lots of jokes and tomfoolery (and [livejournal.com profile] cristovau!), and I worked on the Rogue throughout it all so I was able to keep from getting bored during the slow parts. Yay.

Still don't know what I want for a persona. I like my bias dress, I like my new garb, and [livejournal.com profile] rufinia has offered/threatened to make me some Byzantine! So far she's shown me this which I like a lot. I have no clue how to turn that into an actual garment, but she does and that's what's important. Yay!

Got to know Marian-o-the-Buttery better, and she's neat.

SCA things I'm interested in trying out: heralding (the person who speaks loudly during court), archery, fencing, making snoods and other knitting endeavors...
