more importantly, they do school like that in france, or at least they did 10 years ago when i was there, and i don't think they've changed. monday tuesday, all day. wednesday, off. thursday friday, all day. saturday, morning. sunday, off. it was very nice for the 3 weeks i was there. but i think there's something nice about having 2 days off in a row, if you want to go for a weekend trip or something.
