The Morning After
29 October 2007 22:56So last weekend, I played in the 21st run of the LARP "The Morning After," or TMA.
If you follow that link, you will see that due to the nature of this game (being an amnesia-based game), there is not a lot about it that I can tell you. This is partially due to the societally-enforced Gag Rule but also because the Gag Rule enabled me to never hear too much of the game and be spoiled, and therefore I want to pass that on to others.
My time in game was very bipolar. During the beginning of game, I had plenty to do and plenty of people to interact with. I had to do a lot of running around, which sucked, and didn't really focus on some of my own plot, which also sucked, but I liked what was going on with other people and therefore was satisfied. This "beginning of game" lasted through Friday night (6-12) and most of the first half of Saturday (10-6 or so). By Saturday evening some stuff was really frustrating me, and a particular incident that led to horrible miscommunication between me and the GMs led me to leave game in enough hysterical tears that when I called
londo, he acquired a ride to the game site (which was only about ten minutes from where he was) to calm me down and help me understand what was going on without being spoiled too much (because even when you're in game, there's still secrets!) Due to
jingsaw and
teenyweenyowen being good GMs and all around nice people, much of my stress was lifted, and I had a good time for the rest of Saturday night. Sunday morning was icky again, however, when several people that I was depending on for plot failed to show up for several hours, and I felt completely stymied and stuck without anything to do. Then, hooray, people showed up, I let loose the silver tongue, and I won my plot. Winning is nice. I like winning. Also, I feel I should mention
bronzite here, as our characters worked together closely and he was integral to certain things being done. So thanks to him.
So I guess game was less bipolar and more of a cosine wave where 0 = Friday night, π = Saturday night, and 2π = Sunday night.
THIS ALL SAID, if this game ever ever runs near you, you should play it. It's got a LOT of fun stuff going on and it's a fantastic experience to have. Plus, then we can talk about it. ;)
