Dry socket!
4 August 2005 11:33We have a positive ID on the dry socket. Lower left (from my orientation) extraction site.
My dry socket has been named Jimmy.
I went to the dentist this morning and got seen in about 10 minutes! The dentist poked around and found Jimmy. She took out the nearby stitches and sprayed Jimmy all around with FUCKING COLD saline solution to clean him, and then stuffed him full of this nice clove-tasting and smelling solution. It hurt like a bitch for about 20 minutes, and then... ah bliss! It began to taper off. Plus, I got more percocet!
Which probably explains why I have, y'know, a name for my wound.
Also,
sleek... you're right about the cloves! I have never smoked a clove cigarette, but I have dim memories of being around other people who were, and this does remind me of that. It's kinda nice, though. I feel like I'm going to have nice clovey breath for a while. Which is good because Jimmy was starting to SMELL. He certainly tasted bad.
The medicine stuffing (and percocet) should keep me pretty pain-free for the weekend, and I have an appointment Monday morning to get it changed.
Thanks to those who informed me that what I was experiencing wasn't normal. I thought I was just being a wuss...
