crisis mostly averted
28 June 2004 01:34So, things are a lot better than the last post.
I went to see Matt and Jen. Matt looked at me as if he feared I was going to turn into a dragon and burn him to a crisp. Instead I was nice but firm. He was aware there was a problem and was just as upset as I was about it. He says that he doesn't know why the inspector put a stop work order on the construction, because none of the things that were being done involved needing work permits. He will be finding out about it all first thing tomorrow.
He and Jen were able to clear me space to move my things, and acquire me a man (Jen's brother) with a huge farking truck (as in, commercial vehicle cargo truck) to move the big stuff. Oh, and they lent me a futon mattress so that I could move my bed but still have something to sleep on here. There is still a lot of crap to be moved over, just none of it is large. Anything that is still here can fit inside of a regular-sized car. Y'know, like the one I have borrowed from Adriana's sister right now for the rest of the week. Not that having multiple people to help and multiple cars wouldn't make it go faster...
Tomorrow I will find out what happens next. Assumedly Matt will talk to the city inspectors and get this problem with permits straightened out. Then the work will resume, the work that needs to be finished inside the apartment will be finished within a day or two, and I can move in on Thursday like I need to.
So right. Still going through with living there. Hopefully it will just get better. :)
