juldea: (sleepy)
I'm home. I've unpacked, but have not yet fully arranged. I have a lot of dirty laundry.

Pixel and Matrix are beautiful, and I love them tremendously. Here's to hoping one of them (or both!) sleeps with me tonight.

Things for tomorrow: budgeting, schoolbooks, groceries, insurance.

This waking up every day about 8am fiasco is seeming to work, at least on initial attempts.

I've spent the last hour going through multiple friends' posts, to long before I left, ensuring that those things I wished to reply got replied to.

I just remembered my "will I reach 1000 posts before Norman" poll. Let's check. -pause- Currently at 1004, which means I did get it RIGHT before I arrived.

Travel alarm clock alarm going of just now, set for 8am, made me realize I set my alarm clock off of my computer clock which is still set on eastern time. So I actually woke up at 7am... Damn.

So many things to write about...

I already told goldbug this, but two nights ago at my grandparents', I had a very long complicated detailed dream about a budding romance between myself and Boggess, whom I've never even met. I assume that it was reading the journals of [livejournal.com profile] lo5an and [livejournal.com profile] goldbug that got the name locked into my subconscious, and it just went from there. All in all it was a really great dream; he was a wonderful dream-lover and treated me well. As the dream ended he was trying to get me to realize my full potential as a private detective. That was pretty interesting.

While on the road, I used my cell phone as kind of a micro-cassette recorder. I called my own voice mail and left myself messages about different things I have to remember. Most importantly, all the different money I owe (or simply need to spend) on different things/people. Paycheck coming in tomorrow, but that's going straight to rent (two different rents, in fact) and I doubt there will be much left over. Argh. My dad gave me $60 out of the blue to travel with, and I have less that that much still remaining in my bank account, so I'm glad he did that (although I still wouldn't have asked him to).

I walked into Papa John's yesterday and was assured that I still have a job. I will start on next week's schedule on Monday, but I put a note up saying that any drivers who want to give up time until then can just give me a call and I'll come in for them.

I have a large painful spot on my chin, and a lump on my left forehead. Moving back in was a dangerous experience.

I need to: Buy books, enroll for health insurance. Do lots of laundry. Write down all these things I need to pay for. Buy groceries.

Love my wonderful cats.

When I walked in yesterday, I must've scared Pixel with my cries of joy at seeing her, as she immediately hid under my bed for the next several hours (I only got her out with a lure of cat treats). Matrix was not so jumpy, however, and I was able to spend much quality time with her immediately. Whether she remembered me and was glad I was back or is just a complete cuddleslut, I don't know. She sat on my lap and purred continuously while I paid attention to her continuously. Since I lured Pixel out last night and immediately gave her lots of love and then let her go, she has been her same old self. She even slept next to my bed last night :) (it was too hot for either cat to sleep IN it)

I forgot how hot it gets here. If I thought it was bad at Jason's house, sheesh. The lack of central A/C is a killer. I'm glad I have a little desk fan to keep me alive; its presence was the only way I was able to sleep. And as I say that, I get a chill. Odd.

Another thing to do: a great clothing fit-a-thon. What still fits and what doesn't? What things that don't fit should be given to friends/goodwill/Abigail's Attic, thrown away, or kept (just in case...)?

Brushing teeth and washing face.

I still have 1/3 of a tooth missing. That's on my list of things to have money to fix.

Multiple long scratch scars on my legs.

Time to go outside, take a deep breath, get real high, and scream, "What's going on?"

I'm good. I just saved myself $22.14 on textbooks.

See, I went to the bookstore on campus today and bought all my books. Then, for the past hour or so, I checked their prices (plus shipping) on Amazon, Barnes 'n' Noble, and Half. I even have a nice spreadsheet made of the prices from each (bookstore including tax, web sites including tax and shipping). Then I just bought the cheaper ones (only one book of my six was cheaper from the bookstore, even including shipping) and I will return the ones I got from the bookstore.

$22 isn't that small of an amount. It feels nice.

I made myself a memo to talk about this...

When driving into an area of construction on the highway these days, you tend to see poorly-scrawled orange signs that say something to the effect of "Please be careful, my mommy works here. Love, Blair". These annoy me to no end.

First off, they look terrible, and they're not at all individualized. I saw the same sign with the same name in 4 different states. Come on, state governments.

Secondly, I will not be one more whit careful for someone if they are a parent than if they are not one. A human is a human, and the loss of life is tragic no matter how many dependents that person has. I find it despicable that the government feels the need to imply that you should slow down for the sake of Blair's mommy more than for the sake of all the other workers out there.

I don't plan on having children. Does that make me more expendable than someone who does? Does it mean that I will contribute less to the world through my life than someone who is a parent?

I don't mean offense to people who have children, at all. Go them, they can handle something I'm too intimidated to try. Continuation of the species, hurrah!

...I just don't think they're any more special than I am. ;)

Did much today. I just finished probably an hour's worth of piano-playing. It's much more accessible when it's in the living room.

Tomorrow: capoeira at 10, car tune-up at 2, picking up Corch from the airport at 5.

Here's hoping paycheck arrives.

Does anyone know how expensive replacing a front windshield is?

I'm very tired. Up for 14 hours already. Dunno if laundry should be attempted before bed, or not.
