juldea: (sleepy)
I'm back.

Actually, we got back at 9:30, so I've been here for a while. I'm sure it's hard for many of you to imagine that I came home and didn't get online for several hours, but I'm serious!

I'm also very, very sleepy. It sucks because I have to get up for work tomorrow.

Today I walked up 5th Ave, into FAO Schwartz, through Central Park, to the Met, browsed the gift shop, walked more through Central Park, walked past Rockefeller Center and the Radio City Music Hall, saw a street corner full of Christian protestors, realized that they were protesting the gay pride rally happening right behind them, listened to the... interesting-ness of that for a bit, bought a present for my sister (NOT at the rally... further down the street!), returned to Adriana's house, drove home...

More interesting things will come later, when I'm more rested. Pictures, too.

I'm in the midst of 4 AIM chat windows at the moment, so this will probably be a very jumpy post.

In order to join the Brookline public library, I need to have some paperwork (like a piece of mail) with my name and current address together on it. Anyone want to mail me something important-looking?

Brookline, MA 02446

Things I returned from NYC with:
  • a pair of socks in the manner of the pair I bought goldbug, only almost cooler... instead of mesh with colored stripes, they are mesh with musical staves (this word has been changed from the original post). Black and white. I will once again take a picture. The only problem is that the notes/clef signs/rests/accidentals (whatever is in black thread on the white staves) leaves big wads of black threads on the inside of the sock, so when I put them on they look less like what they are and more like black blobs. I plan to try fixing them... They were $1 at a street stand, so if they die I won't be terribly vexed.

  • A knight light. It's a little plastic knight holding onto a purple shield which covers a light bulb. It's plugged in next to my bed. I like it a lot.

  • present for Jason: a "Knights and Armour" coloring book from the Met.

  • present for Emily: a small (8x11) print of Van Gogh's "First Steps". She requested it.

  • present for Deanna: her name written in hand-painted letters by a Chinese vendor on the street, who forms the letters out of animals. I'll take a picture to demonstrate.

  • One of those paintings for myself as well.

  • Lots of photographs.

  • A slight sunburn.

  • A dramatically smaller amount in my checking account.

Luckily, I get paid this week. For 48 hours worth of work. At $10.12/hr. I'll save the work of the math for you, that's $465.76. As far as I can tell, about $100 of it will be taken out for taxes. That's a nice leftover sum with which to repay Janke and pay some credit card debt.

I posted a "hire me for part-time work and odd jobs" flier in the mail room downstairs, so far 3 of the little tags have been ripped off. Also I applied at a few places, hopefully something will turn up. Hopefully.

Tonight I will wax my legs and rebleach my hair, hopefully for the final time. Wish me luck.
