What I want is simple - a very large, very detailed street map of the city of Boston. This is possible to find for a price tomorrow during some explorations, but I decided to look online tonight. When I get something in my head, I want to deal with it RIGHT then.

Basically, my idea is to put this very large street map up on my wall, and decorate it with push-pins and notes indicating subway stops, important stores, etc. Personal points of interest, not necessarily tourist points of interest.

So, not finding on a short surf a simple printable street map, I get the idea to use image editing software and the small portions of street maps obtained by such sites as mapquest and yahoo spliced together to make a very large map, which I could then at least look at on my computer.

However, I quickly find that these sites suck for such use. What is a really nice feature when you're wanting to look at that small portion of the map turns out to be a nightmare when you want to stick portions together. The way they label the streets is such that if a street is shown in your small portion, the street name is placed such that you can see all of the name. Well, when you change where you're looking, that changes where the street name is. Therefore, if you're trying to layer two small portions, you get pileups of street names overlapping and repeating and looking horrible. Bah!

I guess tomorrow I will just go on a quest. I want to go on a quest anyway.

As I was driving back from Brockton tonight, there was a sudden halt in traffic and far ahead I could see a car trying to change all 4 lanes to get off to the right at once. I thought mean thoughts about this person until the time when I was passing them - the car was stopped in the breakdown lane and the driver was leaning his head out, losing all the contents of his stomach. It was very unpleasant looking.

Today I saw what an Eagle Court of Honor (Boy Scouts) looks like. It was very... ceremonial. Regimented. I liked some parts of it (a real bagpipe player!) and disliked some others.

Jason looks absolutely gorgeous in a boy scout uniform shirt... must be my military upbringing affecting me. I kept staring at him (for most of it, he had to be up on stage and I had to stay out in the audience) and thinking how much I loved him. :) After the whole thing I was in some kind of weird completely schmoopy mood... you know, when you want to tell someone how incredibly much you like them but you don't think that words can even do it, yet you try anyway? I think he understood, though. And both of us don't know why it caught me after a boy scout function ;)

Well I have to be up in the morning for work, so I should get going. G'nite moon.

I got lost coming home. I ended up somewhere in Lexington, MA. I want to be in Brighton, MA. If you look at this map, Brighton is the star. You can see how far away Lexington is.

Don't click on this if you don't want to read profanity. )

Okay, I've calmed down some. Let me put the amounts I just spent on groceries and montly subway pass into my budget and see if I have any money, and then I'll decide if it's a good day or not.

-----

Well... it's kind of a good day. I have $10 in one bank account and $3 in another. But another paycheck shows up tomorrow (was supposed to show up today, so...), I have enough gas to take me to and from work at least 2 more times (maybe 3), I have a subway pass, and a full fridge. I can't think of anything that will require me to have money for another 2 weeks at least.

So, anyway. Things that happened today that you haven't already heard about:

I found out that the mall between here and work is AWESOME. It's even a "Simon Mall", I guess a chain of malls owned by Simon, and because Simon is smart he gives the malls a website! So the store listing for this mall is here. Hot Topic, Gadzooks, Victoria's Secret, TJ Maxx 'n' More, Rave, Deb, Wet Seal... whee! Those are just a few. I bought a $4 pair of purple vinyl pants at Rave (rowr), and found a nice short 12 gauge barbell for my tongue at Hot Topic. It is VERY weird to have such a short barbell in... and yet good at the same time. No chance I'll bite this one while eating. And the balls are a blue marbled sparkly color. :)

The barbell was an approved purchase, the pants were splurge. But really, $4...

After coming home and ranting, I went grocery shopping. I found the nearest middle-of-the-city grocery store, Star Market. Take Albertson's and squish it smaller and you have a Star, I guess. I found everything I wanted/needed... As well as got my $35 subway pass.

Oh, I didn't get a street map though. I guess maybe I'll go out tonight with my new pass and get one!! I still have some cash. Oh wait... it's only $2. Bah.

I still need to go downstairs and explore what this apartment building has to offer in the way of pool and gym.

It's weird. I have nothing to do tomorrow. Nothing. I have a complete free open day. I'm weirded out.

The subject came up because I'm finishing off the cantaloupe/strawberry/blueberry/grape/kiwi mixture we made on Friday. It's delicious.
