26 May 2001 22:22I saw Pearl Harbor with Randen and his sister (Dayla, I believe I have the spelling right), and I really liked the movie. It's been getting really bad reviews, and I don't know why. It swept me up for its full 3 hours and had me near tears every few minutes as I remembered, once again, just what the movie was about. The love story sewn into it to make it theatrical was even realistic; I wouldn't be surprised if it were based on a true story. The movie took a lot of liberties with specific details surrounding the bombing (was really done before dawn, but the movie shows it later, in better daylight) and lead characters (I doubt those two guys really were the only two who saved Pearl Harbor, grin), but DUH. This is a movie, not a documentary.
I suggest it. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but really touched me and makes me want to look up some audio clips of President Roosevelt's speeches and stuff.
Oh, and Roosevelt's dog was in it. Kickass.
