You labratory studies ... show that you do indeed have Graves' eye disease. Tyroid stimulating immunoglobulins which are fairly specific for Graves' disease were significantly elevated 190%. The normal range is less than 130%. Your actual biochemical thyroid studies were normal however ... a serum TSH was 0.76 (normal 0.4 - 5.50), a free T4 was normal at 1.0 (normal 0.8 - 1.8) and a free T3 was normal at 317 (normal 230 - 420).

Well, I suppose that's that for a while. He suggests I get a serum TSH (the cheap test) done twice a year until my thyroid starts whacking out... which he seems positive will happen... so OK. I'm glad I don't actually have to go back to him, I didn't like him that much. =P

So that's that for a while...whee?

Okay, so what does that mean exactly?

It means that while I show every damn symptom of hypothyroidism known to man (well, not really, just a lot of them), my chemical tests don't say I have it. =P So I don't get to start any medication or any. Well, maybe I will, on recommendation of my general practitioner. And maybe that will clear up some of my medical problems. But we just have to wait and see.

ugh, how irritating. it'd be too easy for it to be completely one thing or the other.

Agreed.

I found some thyroid balancer herbs at the earth, and since I had $10 free stuff there anyway, I picked it up. Let's see what happens in a month or so after that.
