There's an important message for people who can be in norman tonight at the end of this post. You can read all the rest or skip it.

So my mom came and got me from work at 6:30 and we came back to my house and started working on my car. We opened up the secret compartment in the trunk and got out the spare tire, which isn't a little plastic donut but is the tire equivalent thereof. Then we found ANOTHER secret compartment with a jack and a tire wrench in it. Using the instructions we found, we started taking the tire apart and such.

About the time it was time to take the nuts off, we thought we were doing something wrong because they didn't budge. However, a nice arabian boy who was walking into my apartment building stopped and came over and started to help. From then on out, he didn't let my mother or I touch a thing! His name is Mohommad (I'm guessing on the spelling because there are tons of variations) and he's Palistinian and he lives above me! He was very interesting to talk to because he has very strong viewpoints about things while at the same time being very open. He says he likes living in the states because of the diversity and the number of different people you can know. We talked a lot about American schooling and the English language and Arabic. :)

After he put the spare on and started lowering the jack, we found out that the spare was flat, too. So he raised the car back up and we walked to the Sinclair to fill the tire. He wouldn't let me use my own quarter for the air pump, and then he asked my mom and I if we wanted something to drink. We said no at first, but he really insisted and bought us some juice. We went back and he put the tire on and said that if I ever needed it, I could borrow his car for work and such!!

He did all of this without being creepy. That was just his culture, as he said, being generous and helpful was one of the most important parts of who he is.

I think it even made him a little late for prayers at the Mosque to help us.

Then, just now (important message alert!), he knocked on the door and gave goldbug and I a dozen glazed Krispy Kreme donuts for no reason. She and I each had one, but the rest are sitting here. They are calling our names, but we must resist and instead offer them to anyone willing to come over and eat them!!

So, Mohommad rocks. He's a cool smart nice guy. I like having him for a neighbor :)
